Turkey Trot benefits Interfaith Food Bank

Sunday, December 06, 2009

By Press release

Amador County runners and walkers met at Lake Tabeaud on Thanksgiving morning for the 7th Annual Turkey Trot, sponsored by the Amador High School Cross Country team. More than 200 walkers and runners traversed the 2.7-mile short course or the longer 6.6-mile trek. Participants brought 545 pounds of food and made $1,680 in cash donations to the Interfaith Food Bank. Raley's generous policy of matching donations doubles the money, bringing the grand total of cash raised to $3,360. Winners of the short course were Dave Tearpak and Julia Zanze-Seirk, while Jon Waltman and Kristen Shaw topped the long-course runners. All winners are from Sutter Creek. Cross country coach Jesse Shaw, shown speaking to the participants, was emcee of the event. photo courtesy of randy berg
