A long-awaited vote Monday went in favor of the Gold Rush Ranch and Golf Resort planned for Sutter Creek.
After debate on whether project size should be cut from 1,330 houses, City Council members split, 4-1, with Councilman Murphy opposed, but still approved what is called a specific plan for the project with the 1,330-house figure intact.
In a separate, unanimous vote, council members approved a development agreement that included a notable revenue source for the town - a 10-percent surcharge on each "green fee" collected for admission to the the resort golf course. A second unanimous vote approved various zoning changes to facilitate the project.
