Empty Bowls, a fund-raiser for the Interfaith Food Bank, will feature soups from various restaurants along with bowl hand-crafted by local students.
The event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road.
The menu of soup, bread, cookies and beverages have all been donated by local restaurants and grocery stores. Participating are: Jose's Mexican Restaurant, Imperial Hotel, Strings, Beth Sogaard Catering, and Sutter Amador Hospital. Cookies will be baked by Safeway and Thomi's. Bread will be provided by Pokerville Market and Save Mart. Starbucks will donate coffee and Raley's will donate bottled water.
Each guest will be served by Amador High School Future Farmers of America members and the Shenandoah-Willow Springs Junior Grange.
Amador and Argonaut high school students have made hand-crafted bowls for the event. Teachers Rand Huggett and John Pretto have been working with their students since school began. Their bowls will be offered at the luncheon for each guest to take home. Mule Creek State Prison has also given many handmade bowls.
The jazz band from Amador High School, sing Steve Johnson, Work in Progress, a string quartet, will provide entertainment.
