GRR on attack

Sutter Creek Law Enforcement

Mr Consolo,

I agree with your statement. But Since I live upcountry and not in "Sewer Creek," my concern is for the public safety aspect of the city. It sounds to me that the city is cutting back on public safety and ramping up on Gold Rush. Where are the priorities of the city? How many more police layoffs are the citizens going to tolerate? You cant even talk to a cop in that town unless you wave him down when he's on patrol. Maybe its time that Mr. Duke step up to the plate and sticks up for his police department instead of trying to dismember it. Maybe its time Mr. Duke step up to the plate support public safety. Because when I go through town and need help, I want a cop to show up not a sewer worker.

Ledger censorship
1/28/2010 10:57:32 AM
A three day delay in posting by the ledger deters dialogue and information exchange. Imagine if advertisers were told "Submit your ad and we will might print next month". Clearly a ploy to break up communications. It is now thursday Jan 28th @ 9:00 and the last post was 1/25/2010. All weekdays. seems that the ledger print god only approves and posts twice a week. Excessive delay equates to censorship in my opinion. But when the Ledger backs the GGR Project like it does you can understand why they do it.

No ploys
1/28/2010 2:09:05 PM
Tom, it's not a ploy. We apologize for some comments getting approved late, but it's simply a matter of staffing levels. While you, Tom, have never been guilty of attempting to post slanderous comments, if others had followed your example, the approval process, and delays associated with it, would be moot. Sorry. We'll try to approve comments in a more timely manner.

Sounds good enough to me. I just want the delay to be reasonable. It seems that there's an average of only two or three short blogs a day. I wouldn't want the delay to be more that 36 hours. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks,

Senate Bill 670
1/29/2010 1:58:12 PM
Thank-you, Board of Supervisors for taking a leadership roll in fighting Senate Bill 670, a law banning all suction dredging on every river and stream in California. In these very hard economic times Amador County needs every tourist dollar. The loss of suction dredging is having a disaserous impact on the recreational operation at Roaring Camp. Senate Bill 670 attempts to address salmon spawning, a non-issue in Amador County due to the dams on the Moke River up here.

Between Sutter Gold Mine Tours and Roaring Camp, we draw 80,000 tourists a year to Amador County. Losing Roaring Camp would rain a heavy blow on so many merchants who depend on those tourist dollars. Please help by writing your legislators and encouraging them to rescind this one size fits all "solution" to a problem that has nothing to do with our county!

SB670

Saw Supervisor Plasse lamenting about how SB670 was going to impact Sutter Gold Mine on TSPN the other day. How could a suction dredging ban possibly affect a hard rock mine? Last time I checked, you couldn't dredge in a hard rock mine..you know, not enough water and stuff like that...

Jack Mitchell and the personal attack.
2/1/2010 4:18:02 PM
Ed must have hit a nerve! Jack shoulda cooled off and read that one the next day before he printed it. I am shocked that he thinks that GRR is going to fix the existing old sewer pipes in the streets of Sutter Creek. All GRR is going to pay for is half of a new sewer plant that the city really doesn't need. Unless of course you build a big white elephant. When the residents find out the bond that will pay for half of the new plant will raise sewer bills about $50.00 per residence, Jack will have to explain why residents have to pay $50.00 more per month (Forever) so that someone else can have a golfcourse. And where is the city going to get the money to build, man, and operate another fire station. And how is the School District going to pay for building, supplying, and staffing, new Schools for the new residents even if the land is free? Last I heard the city can't pay for what they need now.

I think Jack's attack was just gutteral noise.

Jack I expect more of you, please get up and argue the facts.

Jack do you really care for anything more than advertisers and circulation?

So, I put up a Redphone post Friday afternoon at 4pm or so , and I have to wait 60 hours to read it at 7 am or so Monday morning?

Should we just not post on the day before the weekend or? What is happening? This is a pretty good exchange of information on here, and it's going away quick because of what? Staffing? Are there so many posts that you have to man it 24/7? And what's the "approval process?" Do you have to run it by the Dispatch editorial review board, or some lawyer or what?

I say this all in fun, Scott. Here's an idea, you read em', if it looks slanderous, don't post it. If not, throw it on here.Or put a disclaimer up saying you are not responsible for the content of the posts, etc.,the lawyer could help with that one..lots of websites have those. Hope this helps..

GRR "Champion"
2/2/2010 1:41:56 PM
Poor GRR, saddled with Jack Mitchell as a champion. You should have counted to 10 before publishing your ridiculous name calling commentary, Little Napoleon, Chicken Little and Gold Rush. Moves like that diminish credibility, Jack. I'll bet the GRR developers groaned and rolled their eyes when they opened up what is left of your newspaper and read your personal attack on Wethersley and Arata. Having you in their corner must give those guys ulcers. See you at the polls.

Sutter Creek
2/2/2010 3:30:16 PM
Wow, I feel like poor "Rip" who fell asleep and woke many years later. The only difference is the year, the fight remains the same....leave historic Sutter Creek alone. It was the same in the 60's to now. First we wanted a bypass as the town was being shook apart, then came the delays and we ran around yelling our "Sutter Creek" will be a ghost town as all bypass town. Now we have GRR (love those initials) and we once again want to keep the quaint town of Sutter Creek the same. Oh wait that was also in the seventies when mine and Buck's two children were growig up...we like them when they are little then we don't like them cause they might want to build a house and bring in more people and houses. Same stuff just new people (or relatives)stopping growth in Sutter Creek. Good thing Buck's family home is downtown so our daughter can live in town.

Your constant rambling is tiresome. You accuse others of verbal attacks, yet do the same exact thing. You really should be ashamed. Also, do you remember when the slow/no growth people ran a golf community out of Jackson? Do you really want Sutter Creek to be the sad mess that Jackson is? A downtown with so many empty store fronts? A place that has lost its shine?

All of your negative energy makes me sad.

Expected Integrety
2/6/2010 4:12:12 PM
The people should expect to be able to trust.

1) CIVIL AUTHORITIES: Elected authorities are expected to act in the interests of constituents that elect them. This did'nt happen in Plymouth in regards to the citizens vote vs the Council New Casino vote. look what happened there. It's funny to see that an campaign for a council member would cost over $5,000.00 like it did in Jackson. Who'd pay that much and why?

2)LOCAL GOV'T STAFF HONESTY. The citizens must expect that the staffs of the local gov't do the job for them. This includes 100% honesty. This MUST include transparency and full disclosure. My example of this is the interview of Rob Duke on TSPN the other day where he basically was selling the Gold Rush Ranch project as all rosey and no negatives. We all know that there are negatives so why ignore them, unless there is bias. It is not his job to sell the project. It is his job to disclose all. Why have the People of Sutter Creek not been told of the cash cost to the sewer rate payers for this project? They deserve to know. If duke can't tell the WHOLE story without deceit he needs to GET OUT!

3) The people need to expect unbiased reporting by the press. Traditionally the press was the machine that kept the others straight. but when true investigative reporting and bias enters the press decision making process it seems that the system fails. It is clear that the bias is there Mr. Mitchell's statements are the proof.

I would welcome investigative reporting to return without bias. Maybe the lack of transparency will go away. This process is so important to protect the people. But Press is private and can operate with bias if they want.
