More than 100 local families received early Christmas gifts from the Angel Tree program, sponsored in part by the Jackson Elks. Coordinator Rose-Marie Zwieg said the purpose of Angel Tree is to provide gifts to children that their parents might not otherwise be able to afford. The Amador Knights of Columbus Council 1849 presented the Arc of Amador and Calaveras with a check for $2,090.50. The Knights raised this money through their annual Tootsie Roll Campaign. Pictured from left are Knights Plymouth Area Campaign Coordinator John Bowling, Grand Knight David Rich, Arc Executive Director Mike Sweeney, Knight Council member and Arc employee Charles Esola and Knights Tootsie Roll Campaign Chairman Richard Smith. Council 1849 has been raising funds for The Arc for the past 12 years.
